Avae Wear was born in Amsterdam a city known for its design heritage, progressive culture, and relentless focus on function. Our activewear carries that DNA: clean design, purposeful engineering, and an unwillingness to compromise on quality. This is our story.

Why Amsterdam?

Amsterdam has always been a city of makers. From the Dutch Masters who revolutionised painting to the architects who designed a city on water, this place has a deep-rooted culture of combining beauty with function. That philosophy runs through everything we design at Avae.

The city's cycling culture also plays a role. Amsterdam is a city of movement people here don't just exercise, they live actively. Bikes, walks, gym sessions, and outdoor training are part of daily life. Designing activewear in a city that actually lives in activewear keeps us honest. We can't sell something here that doesn't perform, because our neighbours would call us out on it.

European design sensibility also means something specific: attention to detail, quality materials, and understated confidence over loud branding. We'd rather our leggings speak through their fit, feel, and performance than through a logo plastered across your thigh.

The Design Philosophy

Every piece in our collection starts with a simple question: how can we make this work harder for the woman wearing it?

That's the driving force behind our body sculpting approach. We don't add features for marketing every seam, every panel, every compression zone serves a purpose. Our sculpting paneling lifts and contours because the seams are placed based on anatomy, not aesthetics. The fact that it looks good is a consequence of getting the engineering right.

We believe activewear should do three things:

• Perform. Squat proof, anti-slip, moisture-wicking, durable. If it can't handle your hardest session, it's not good enough.
• Sculpt. Body contouring that enhances your natural shape. Not compression that squeezes, but engineering that lifts.
• Feel. Buttery soft, 4-way stretch, comfortable from the moment you put it on until you peel it off after a two-hour session.

The Enhance Collection

Our flagship Enhance collection represents everything Avae stands for. The name says it: we enhance what's already there. Our body sculpting leggings, shorts, and sports bras use strategic paneling and premium 80/20 nylon-spandex fabric to create a visible sculpting effect without padding, without excessive compression, and without sacrificing performance.

The Enhance collection was developed over months of prototyping. We went through dozens of seam placements, compression levels, and waistband designs before arriving at the final product. Every detail was tested by real women in real gym sessions. The result is activewear that doesn't just claim to sculpt it visibly does.

Colours were chosen with the same intention. Black, Brown, Red, and Pink each one tested for squat-proof opacity, each one designed to work as part of a mix-and-match wardrobe. No trend colours that feel dated after one season. Just refined, versatile shades that look good and last.

When we say "designed in Amsterdam," we mean the creative vision, technical design, and quality standards are set here. Our design team works from Amsterdam, developing patterns, selecting fabrics, testing prototypes, and refining every detail before production begins.

This matters because design direction drives quality. When the people making design decisions are obsessive about detail because that's the Amsterdam design culture they grew up in every choice reflects that standard. From the weight of the fabric to the width of the waistband to the angle of the back seam, every decision is intentional.
